If it's a 99, it's a 60 degree looper, so 5800-6000 would be your target with a normal load.

two more things, what about water pressure and temperature. oh, while im thinking about it, i think I might have talked to you, walleyehead, about this before. My johnson is on a 1974 baja 16 ft. shallow vee (currently undergoing a transom replacement.) I am wondering if getting a jack plate such as the convertable one on bobs machineshop will help with speed. now i have an 18 pitch stainless steel raker. THANKS

The Bob's 3-5-1/2"??? Good plate and yes, I think a bit of setback can really help in many ways, and it gives you so many more options for set-up.
