reconnecting oil injection procedure

After a few incidents of spilling 2 cycle oil all over myself and the boat, I plan on reconnecting. The reason I disconnected it was because the No Oil light came on three times and I panicked. I now believe that the oil line had become porous and that was the culprit, because I did a check (the 1/4 inch clear tubing procedure) on the oil flow rate, and it was exactly what it should be..

So now I have 60 gallons of 50:1 gas in my inaccessible below decks tank. Is the following an advisable procedure?

Hook the OIS back up. Fill the oil injection oil reservoir tank.with 25:1 gas, and run the boat until almost empty. Dump the remaining contents of the oil tank into the gas tank, and fill the oil tank with 2 cycle oil, and the gas tank with gas.

Yes? No?

Why not just run the main tank empty and then reconnect the OMS pump?

Gas in the oil tank sounds like a bad idea; agree, just run the gas out of the tank and then hookup.

DON'T put any gas in the oil tank !!!! Do as suggested above. Or hook it back up with oil in the tank and let it smoke.Won't hurt the motor.

This will also give you a chance to see if the VRO is working properly.
