Can anyone recommend a "recreational marine GPS" for a weekend / inland lakes boater?

I just put a lowance 527 combo on my boat, and I'm very pleased, you can also pick up the cards for your area for more detailed info on the gps

Unfortunately I think that question is a bit complex. It is nice to have a Chart Plotter, but if you also want a fishfinder, you either need the space for two units, or buy a combo. You quickly turn this into a $500+ proposition.

The cheapest solution is a monochrome fishfinder (or depthfinder) and a handheld charterplotter.

BTW - The GPSMap units (430, 530) are designed for inlake lakes, and are very easy to use. They are a bit pricy.

I don't need a fish finder - I'm not a fisherman. I have a depth gauge in the boat, just looking for something that does general course plotting, displays lat/long, and has quasi-basic maps of freshwater lakes. Right now I'm getting away with using a GPS dongle and a laptop.
