Rectifier Location

Hi everyone I have a quick question Where should the Rectifier be on A 1972 800 Thunderbolt Ignition System. Should it be mounted on the motor block , on the aluminum case that goes around the motor , or on the lower cowl. I cant find any pic's in the Seloc book. Right now it is on the lower cowl and I think it should not be there.

That is the factory location and it is no longer avaliable. The old Merc# was 332-2910A3 and that updates to the 78614A1 which is the small square rectifier and a mounting bracket.
