rectifier on 1980 merc 115

i bought a rectifier from radio shack and was wondering how to wire it to my engine, here is a link to my engine wirng http://www.maxrules.com/oldmercs/Wiring/1966ona/37.pdf
my rectifier has 2 symbols like this ~ and a + and -. thanks for any help.

+ is red wire
~ is the 2 yellow wires with the brown wire attached to one of the yellow as shown in your wiring diagram
dont matter which yellow the brown is attached
and the yellows are interchangable
dont test to see if charging by removing battery cable

by the way if your R S rectifier has a 4th connection it would be for a ground

org. rectifer was self grounding

Normal Bridge rectifiers have 4 terminals. The -DC terminal needs to be grounded tot he motor's block.

ok thanks guys, 1 more question. does the tach wire go to the + terminal or with the lone yellow wire on the ~ terminal?
