Rectifier/Regulator is fried, right?

Yesterday, i noticed the voltage output of my rectifier/regulator was 17V. My batteries are fresh and charged. Probably time for a new rectifier/regulator right? The stator is brand new from CDI/Rapair.

I actually recently just replaced the stator, could the bad rectifier/regulator have damaged the stator? Also the switchboxes, rectifier/regulator too?

A regulater that is over chargeing can build heat in the stator and damage it

I replaced my bad 9 amp merc stator w/ a CDI 16 amp unit that was in stock. That fried my regulator. I replaced it and the rectifier with a CDI #194-5279. This is not a direct factory replacement but if you can find a mounting place for it, bolting it to some engine block metal for a heatsink, it sure works great on my old 175, cheaper than merc parts also. This is an actual electronic regulator. Pull the old rec./reg, toss them in trash, hook the 2 yellow wires to stator & the black & red to ground & bat+, perfect 14V!

Well, i did just replace my stator. But I went through my local mechanic. He's a great guy, only charged me $160 for a brand new/out of the box CDI/Rapair stator. He said this was the correct stator for my engine and considering he rebuilt the 88' V6 200Hp merc, I imagine he ordered the right part.

Hopefully, it wasn't the new stator which fried my rect/reg. I only have one unit so I think it is a rect/reg in one.

I ordered rect/reg
MERCURY RECTIFIER # 5707
OE # : 62351A, 62351A2

If this thing burns up I will be pissed. What do you think?
I found your CDI #194-5279.

-Thanks
andy

I think I am in the clear. 200hp doesn't have the option of having a 9 amp stator installed (unlike a 175 which possibly could have 9,15,16,and 40 amp stators). So... I think I am safe.

I have a CDI stator # 194-5279.
I think this will be compatiable with
MERCURY RECTIFIER # 5707
OE # : 62351A, 62351A2

Opinions?
