Rectifier troubles. . . . .I think

I have a '95 Force 70 Hp.

The rectifier has a small crack in it and some rust in there. I believe that this is causing my tach to not register above 3000 rpms, and, even worse, I'm not convinced that in its present condition, it's charging my battery correctly.

Any advice?

All that said, I'm looking for a replacement. I have located a new one for $100, but, I would like to find a used. My preliminary search on the internet hasn't turned up many leads on used Force parts. If anyone has a reputable used parts dealer in their area that would have, or specializes in Force or Mercury parts, I would greatly appreciate a web address or name and phone number.

Thanks,
Steve

hey, I am just passing on some advice, an expert from this forum told me they sell rectifiers at radio shack for well under that. (I think around $10 - $15) I think it may be worth the time to check it out, to see if it would work on your force. 100 seems awful steep.

Actually, it's a voltage regulator/rectifier, so from what I can gather, the $100 is right on.

I've located someone that has a new one in stock for $100 shipped. But I'm still wondering if it's acceptable to track down a used one and slap it on.

Thanks,

Steve
