Re: Rectifier

small box or plate that converts ac voltage from stator to dc voltage to charge battery. Don't know what motor you have but Johnson/Rudes are usually located on the left side of motor

Re: Rectifier

I have an evinrude. OK, so the rectifier is similar to a power invertor, so now what is stator?

Re: Rectifier

The stator is a stationary set of windings under the flywheel that generates the voltage for the charging system and a separate set of windings within the same unit for ignition voltage. The voltage is produced by the rotating magnets of the flywheel passing the pickup of the windings.Maybe someone else can elaborate further.
