plasic sheeting sounds ideal for a floor that would last an eternity. i have been checking out some prices and its pretty reasonable. my question is, what thickness would you recommend for a 14ft bayliner capri bow rider? keeping in mind weight, and i will be pouring foam under it.
im surprised there is not much talk about this product alternative, maybe somebody can shed some light. :)

I would like to know about this too! Sounds like a good idea if the adhesives for the carpet would be compatible and with seacast stringers might be a one shot deal.

I hope you get some replies on this or from a plastics supplier.

Well I stayed up way too late but I put in at least 50 requests for info about the plastic sheeting for a boat deck.

Also questioned the interaction of the plastic with seacast from transomrepair.com, adhesives for carpeting, epoxy resins, and sealing the joints along with the weight for a 4'X 8' section so we can compare this to plywood.

They will all go to work tomorrow and check their e-mails and say where did this fool come from! But I figure if a couple take this seriously I may get a reply in a few days that may be positve.

Will let you know what I find out!

The floor, stringers, transom, and the bond between them all is what forms the structure of the boat. If you can't bond the floor to the stringers and transom, you could have torsional issues, something you don't really want when you are going 30-40 mph on the water. If you can figure out a way to bond the floor to the stringers, transom, and to the sides of the boat, then you will be set. The new boats with all the plastic and stuff work because they were designed for that material. An older fiberglass boat should be reconstructed in a way that is similar to original spec, or you could have a very dangerous boat on your hands. This, and expense, is why you don't see a lot of people doing rebuilds with the high-tech stuff. Now, you could put a plastic floor in an aluminum hull because it bolts in and the floor isn't part of the hull integrity. Good idea though....
