I have read every post about straps and winch position and am trailering more since all the flooding here in the Midwest. So I want to FIX my problem. What would be the best way to modify winch bracket?? I also included stern photos to see if I can move boat back on bunks. I thought about turning bracket around and would require less welding time. I have plenty(lots) of tongue weight. A 10 to 12 inch slid back would be a great help to modify winch stand. I have new self centering rollers coming new bow roller, new lights and wiring.

Re: Redo Trailer winch

i would completely reconfigure the winch, move the jack red is winch stand. blue is cable, yellow is chain. you can jack the boat off the trailer or launch the boat and put new longer bunks on the trailer. they need to be under the transom any way, so the need to be changed.

Re: Redo Trailer winch

If you have room under those lights that is where the bow stop should be.

The winch strap/cable should go under the bow stop in case of an emergency stop, it will help keep the boat from launching on top of your tow vehicle.

Can't tell for sure if there is room from your pictures.
