I just bought my first boat. 17ft '89 Sea Ray Bowrider with mercury 100hp outboard. Out on the water twice. Took it in for some concerns and they said I need to replace the reed valve on my 2nd Cyl. They suggested I do this on my own as it will cost more than it is worth due to labor to have them do it. They gave me a crash course walk through on what I need to do. Nice people. Have parts on order. Anyone have a shop manual or walkthrough I can follow while doing this? I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty but honestly don't want to make things worse. Lastly, will it kill the boat to take it out once prior to fixing this? He said the valve is open so it it just running real rich. Don't want more problems being anxious to take the kids out to an island. Its not far but... Thanks in advance for your help. Anyone in St Petersburg Fl looking to make a quick buck doing this let me know :) ... Seriously
