what are reeds used for in my 83 150hp mercury and how do you know if they need replacing, second where in the heck is the thermastat located at on this thing thanks

Think of the reeds as an intake valve, if they are punched it won't idle down worth a dam. I dont believe there is a stat on that beast...<br />Jon

In '83 the 150 was a *V6* not a tower. <br />So it prolly has a thermostat, easily located in the service manual.<br /><br />-W

yea it says something about it in the head but im not sure where
