We Have a 1988 bayhawk 180st and had some soft spotts on the floor and we cut out the floor of the boat using a circular saw set at 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch deep cut so we would not cut the stringers. we took off the floor and checked the stringers and they were solid as a rock but the floor has some soft spots on it. Now we got the net plywood down and we are going to fiber lass the wood floor. How much fiberglass and resin do you recommend and do we put a layer of resin down and then fiberglass and then anouther layer of resin? and posts will help :)

Not knowing your boat size and configuration its VERY hard to make estimates of materials needed.

Here is some figures I used for estimates:

Without knowing what fabric you are using it is a total WAG (as in Wild Axx Guess). Here's some numbers to calculate your useage.

1 gallon of resin will typically wet out:

1.5 oz mat = 32 sq ft
18 oz woven roving = 40 sq ft
24 oz woven roving = 32 sq ft

also goto shareaproject and read up on some of the rebuilds there.. for my 14 foot, including transom I used 3 gallons of resin and 10 yards of cloth.

Sorry I put down 11'4" of plywood 6'4" wide, I rounded up and got 84sq feet of area that needs fiberglassand resin. I have 2 gallons of resin and a sheet of cloth dont know how much. I looked at the package and it is 3 yards wide and 50 inches long. I think I need abouther package of cloth though

"do we put a layer of resin down and then fiberglass and then anouther layer of resin?"

Yes, put a layer of resin on, let it soak in or else it will draw it out of the glass. Once it has soaked in, put more resin down, glass it and usre more resin.

Make sure that you glass the bottom of the floor as well.

I don't know the 'exact' time. I'd wait 12-24 hours to make sure it's soaked into the floor good. You don't want the resin to leave the glass once you put it on or else you have to to it all over again.

Thought I'd clarify that a bit... resin the back sides of the floor boards before you lay them down ( two to three coats), that way the floor is sealed on all sides and less chance of future rot.
