Re: refurbished Gheenoe

To each his own T'Daddy!

There are at least 3 of those for sale here in Mobile and they've been for sale for over a year, one for 2 years!

I guess I'm in the dark because I just don't get it... they seem very easy to capsize, too narrow to do any "real" fishing out of.... but I guess if one just wants to putt up and down a creek or small river they'd be ok?

One of the boat here looks to be in new condition, boat, trailer and 5hp 4strk motor along with ground tackle etc. And I mean 'new" condition... poor guy has been asking $1,500 for the rig for nearly 2 years. I stopped by his place over a year ago out of curiosity and asked about it.... said his wife rode in it once and told him she was scared to death that she'd tip over at any minute and refused to get in it again... He said boat wakes were "interesting"... LOL

And even the lake and rivers here do not have speed limits except near bridges....

for a total of $160 as you see it, you can float for less than that. it is a special use boat.

Bob, the previous owner had a trolling motor plug in there. (really for the coffee maker)

Coffee maker LOL :D

That's a tiny plug for the amps a trolling motor takes!

Now install your portable tv so you watch the Super Bowl while fishing. It is a cute ugly boat!

Wouldn't have been my first choice of color but it will do. I've always liked a gheenoe, wish I could find one cheap like that. If you do ever fix it up, I found a site a while back called customgheenoes.com or something like that. They have some really nice ones, and they're built right here in FL. BTW TD, GOOO GATORS!!!

yes i have been to their plant. i wanted a color that would show up if it capsizes in the keys. it is a reflective, hammered copper.

Wow interesting reason for the color. Thats cool that you have been to the gheenoe plant, I especially like the biggest model they make that are available with center consoles etc. Seem to be solid skinny water boats. Hope yours doesn't capsize.;)

Gheenoes are a little more than square stern canoes. Instead of having a u-shaped bottom they have one shaped more like this: /___\. The slanted sides and flatter bottom supposedly make them more stable. They are a very well known brand here in FL. Great skinny water boats.

Re: refurbished Gheenoe

Kinda looks like a flat bottom, square stern canoe I own....only without the flared sides to it. I was told mine is a "cajun Pirogue" I strapped a 3hp Mercury to the back of it, a bit tippy, but, it scoots.... I can almost get it up on plane...kinda fun ) Not to mention I've had it floating in less than 8 inches of water!! They make outriggers for those things to make them super stable.....so much so you can stand in them...or so they say.
