Marine starting batteries. It's not a cabin cruiser that needs house batteries. I'd question why both died together before I'd throw money at it though...
Have you kept up with the electrolyte level in the batteries? Many marine batteries are NOT sealed and do require topping off the electrolyte with distilled water now and then. I have to put an ounce or two in each cell of my two batteries every year. If you have never done this, your's could be way down in electrolyte and only in need of a refill.
