I'm new here. My family bought me the boat for Fathers Day off of Amazon. I tried last week to register it at the Massapequa DMV, but I didn't have the original MSO, only the one I got off the Intex website. I called them when I got home and they sent me on which I got on Fri. The top part wasn't filled out though. I went back to the DMV this morning, but now they're telling me the MSO has to he notarized and Intex needs to fill out the top portion which transfers the boat to Amazon. I can understand the top portion needing to be filled out, but I can't find any requirements stating it needs to be notorized. Also the requirements state that the bill of sale needs to have all the boat info on it. All I have is the email receipt from Amazon. It doesn't have any of that info. Has anybody else been able to register their boat here and can steer me to another DMV office that maybe a little more understanding of this kind of situation? I really want to use my trolling motor. I took the boat out on Lake Ronkonkoma a couple of weeks ago and when we got back to the ramp there was a DEC officer there who informed us it needs to be registered if we put the motor on it. Any advice would be appreciated.

funny you should mention that if you scroll down the threads you will find my thread "dmv nightmare" I too had dmv issues in Brooklyn ny where I had to come back twice. I boat my boat from iboats and brought the brown form and the bill of sale to the dmv ( emailed receipt) they asked 25 different managers and finally told me the same thing (about a month ago). I called iboats and they sent me notorized paper work to bring to the dmv. again after 10 different managers I was able to register it. You also need the title for the boat. Call amazon and Tell them you need the dmv paperwork I cant remember the name of It other wise I would tell you

Thanks. Yes I saw your thread so I kinda knew what I was in for. My boat doesn't have a title because its under 14ft. I'm gonna call Intex in a little while and hopefully they can send what I need. My concern is Amazon. We'll see what happens. Seems ridiculous to have to register an $80. boat.

welcome to the forum and don't worry everything will be ok. as people tell me the good times on the boat will out weight the bad. please make sure you buy a fairy new outboard 2k or newer or you will struggle like me! I had 3 failed launches and all due to crappy arse motor I spent more time repairing then riding so far.

Intex said they don't fill out or notorize the form. They don't keep records of what hull numbers they send out to retailers. I called Amazon and they cant help me. I called DMV to find out if it really needs to be notorized and he transferred me to title info and recordered voice said can't take calls right now. I called Intex back to talk to a supervisor but the rep could hardly speak English so she said she would have someone call me back. Getting really frustrated.

I have a freshwater trolling motor and planned to use it on the lakes out here on the island.

your experience just confirmed, not to buy anything from amazon that has to pass dmv. I find it weird that the box did not have A hull number aka title. I wish I could help you. Try going to your Towns local congressmen/woman usually theres an office. Tell them your situation. I heard they call strings

Yes I agree, but it was a lot cheaper. Not really worth it now if I can't use it the way I want. I'll see about the local congressman after I exhaust other means. I could always get my 16 yr old to row me around the lake.

I would say screw it but the first and only time I took it out on Lake Ronkonkoma, there was a DEC officer there when we got back tothe ramp. She was nice about it, she could have given me a summons for not being registered and also we were short some PFDs. I was also going to check out a couple of lakes in Patchouge that allow private boats. In the past I would rent boats at blydenburg and put my trolling motor on it

Re: Registering a Seahawk 4 in NYS (Long Island)

Thanks, that's what I did the first time but DMV said it had to be an original one. I called Intex that day asking them to send one with an original signature. Now DMV says it has to be notorized even though that's not one of the requirements listed on the DMV website. Also the top portion of the Certificate, that transfers the boat from Intex to the dealer is not filled out. The rep at intex said they don't fill that part out or notorize the form. The supervisor at DMV said that top part has to be filled out to have continuity of ownership. When I can talk to a supervisor at Intex hopefully I can get that info but I don't know about the notorizing part. The only thing that came with the boat was the HIN that was on the flap of the box it came in. I'm so upset I don't even want to go in my Intex pool!

You should be able to call Intex and get a correct MSO filled out. You could also try another DMV. Your MSO may be good enough and the DMV you went to might just not know what to do with it..

I probably will try another DMV. I will call Intex back as welk because the portion that needs to be filled out clearly states that the manufacturer needs to do it.

Not suggesting you break the law but have Intex send you what they can. YOU out the rest of the form. As long as you are putting down the correct info, who will be the wiser and you can get 'er done. Not saying how I came up with this idea but you gotta do what you gotta do!
