Sorry to ask stupid questions, but does anyone know the location of the regulator/rectifier on an '89 OMC 140 2.0 liter seadrive? I ordered one earlier this week to hopefully fix a low voltage condition. The manual shows a picture of the part, but it does not mention the location.

In case it is under the flywheel, are there any tips to removing and replacing the flywheel? I am not experienced enough to adjust the timing, etc if I should mess that up by not putting the flywheel back correctly.

One last thing, what size nut is that on the flywheel? I didn't have anything in by box to fit it.

Re: Regulator/Rectifier Replacement

i REALY doubt its under the flywheel... its such a needed to access part, its usually on the side of the motor where the big wire harness is... dont go taking that flywheel off.... unless you been properly trained in flywheel removal by the federal governments flywheel removal program..... im not kidding

Re: Regulator/Rectifier Replacement

I thought I saw it next to the flywheel, but I was not sure. I hope the reg/rect fixes the problem, becasue if it's the stator I may have to enlist...

Yes, the flywheel must come off. The water cooled reg/rec si mounted just aft of the crank at the top of the block.

Did you verify that its bad? Or do you just want to swap it out?

If you do change it out, make sure you get one for a Sea Drive 2.0. Its not the same as the V4 looper outboard.

Re: Regulator/Rectifier Replacement

Well, I may have ordered the wrong one. I ordered CDI part # 193-4205 from Seiler Marine for $65. Is it the wrong one?

Re: Regulator/Rectifier Replacement

I just found this in my e-mail, apparently my Spam software thought it was SPAM.

The reason I ordered the part was because it was so cheap, I thought I would take a shot of it fixing the problem. I guess I need to breakout the manual and do some troubleshooting before I spend $170.

Hi,

Thank you for your SeilerMarine.com order.

As mentioned on the website ( seilermarine.com/rapair/seadrive.htm ), the 2.0L Seadrive uses regulator part number 193-3689, which is $160 ($170.40 with tax).

Since it's more than the one entered on the order form, I would need you to authorize the change before I can process the order for the
correct part. I'd have to order that one, but it only takes 1 - 2
days to get here.

Thanks,

Mike Seiler
http://www.seilermarine.com
