I've been boating for years, however, this is the first boat that I have owned myself. I remember how bad I felt when I was so carefull in making sure I did everything right.. Last Friday a buddy and I head out to the boat ramp at the river near my house, like we do every Friday evening to fish. Had to wait 1hr to get my boat in because there was a guy that just got a used boat from a dealer that let him go with a very old weathered rope for a winch rope. We had to help him get in boat on the trailer because he was to scared to drive it on, the other guy's battery was dead and his boat wouldnt start. We had to jump him. I told him that his battery was probley dead and I would not go out in case it wouldnt start again, and it was getting dark, He did any way, and we ended up towing him back in about 6 hours later. He just got his boat to. I'm all for helping people. : )

Brian,
Sounds like you did good! Helping out never hurts... the newbies might learn something, and you get a sense of satisfaction that you were able to lend a hand.
As far as someone not taking your advice, well, the old adage, "You can lead a horse...". Hope I never need your assistance, but it's nice to know you or someone like you is out there!
Happy Boating!
Brian
