Remot control question Help Please

I have a 1987 Evinrude 120 with a standard omc single handle, side mount controls. I am a big fan of the old two handle Evinrude Simplex controls. My question is, will these older controls work with my outboard? I think I would have to mount a key switch. Any help, advice will be greatly appreciated. I actually am using that same dual handle setup in my stick steering tri-hull boat setup. I would think that you could rig that control system up to your engine. But having never tried it before, I honestly don't know for certain. But if you have a little ingenuity, I believe it could be setup to work. JMHO
