I have a mercury 9.9 saipower outboard and I want to fit remote cables and morse control. The controls are by twisting the tiller. How do the remote cable attach to the motor?<br />I have been offered some teleflex cables but they are 500 miles away. How can I identify the proper fitting and are teleflex ok or should I look for some other make? :)

Re: REMOTE CABLES

You'll need to get a remote control conversion kit from a Merc/Mariner dealer to connect the cables to the motor. As for the Teleflex cables, they make them to fit Mercs, Johnnyrudes, and Universal. Forget the distant cables and get them from the Merc/Mariner dealer when you get the kit. That way you know you have the right ones. If you're connecting to the Morse remote, you'll probably need Universal cables and Merc adapters for the motor ends of the cables. You'll also want to remove the tiller handle, so you'll also need a remote kill switch to replace the one that's in the handle.
