Remote controls for 8hp Johnson?

I have an 8 hp johnson (J8RCRM) serial number E 5881563. Does anyone knows if remote controls can be connected to this engine? It does not appear the engine was manufactured with the such adaptation as earlier engines. Does not make much sense. Looking for advice.

I know in the '50's OMC, even down to the 5.5 hp, had mounting areas for remotes. Don't know how long that lasted. (The brown and white ones)<br /><br />Mark

I'm seeing remote control adapter kits on BRP for a 1984 8HP....Superseeded number is 0431840<br /><br />Check out ishopmarine .com
