I had to check the spark on my 93 Force 150 and had to do it alone. This meant finding a way to operate the key switch and still be able to see the spark tester which was back on the engine. I came up with a simple device that should work on just about any key switch ignition where the key faces aft. Get a piece of 1/2 or 3/8 pvc pipe. Cut a slot in one end about 1 inch long. Slot should be wide enought to accept the thickness of your key. Drill a hole perpendicular to the slot thru the pvc so you can then insert the key into the slot and put a screw thru the hole in the pvc, thru the hole in the key and out thru the other hole in the pvc. Put a nut on the screw and tighten it up until you start to compress the pvc, but so the key can still pivot on the screw. You now have a long extension for your key that will pivot and not put any force on the key when you set the other end on the sole of the cockpit. I made one that was about 8 feet long which allowed me to sit on the edge of my motor bay while I spun the motor and watched the spark tester easily. I tested all 5 cylinders without having to move from where I was, just swapping the plug wires from the grouning rig to the spark tester. Hope this helps someone who has to do this test alone.
Happy cruisin',
Rob
