I am thinking about installing a remote oil filter kit on my 89 Sea Ray 220 Sundancer 5.7L. How tough a job is it? Cost? I know it's got to make life easier. I'm getting too old (and fat)to be doing contortions in the bilge.

Not hard at all. Just get the adapter that threads onto where the oil filter used to be, hook up some hoses, and mount the filter.

The kit should be about $180 complete.Installation will depend on your agility getting to the filter area, but you only have to do it once.A good investment.
DHP

$180??? Where are you buying your parts? You can get the whole setup some place like Jegs or Summit Racing for under $40. (and that's for good quality parts)

OmOz Sorry to upset you.I was going original equipment.Lots of good things are available aftermarket.
The kit I reccomend is put out by Mercruiser for this engine. While the adapter plate, hoses, etc. are similar, the Mercruiser kit has the right size and length hoses, the brackets to mount it to the engine (not the firewall). And the hardware to mount it.And it is all made and certfied for marine use.
DHP
