My remote tank is located in the bottom of my center console. I would like to visually check the level but the tank is not transparent. Is there a way to install some type of item that would allow me to see into the top of the tank? Can I remove the cap with out causing oiling pressure problems. I had my power head replaced due to a damaged drive gear. I have a remote fill cap on the outside of the console. When I fill the tank it almost always overflows because I cannot see the level of the tank. Please help. Thanks.

Hmm...that's interesting. Don't ever remove the cap while the engine is running, it is under pressure at that time. It's surprising that you can't see the level, all that I have seen have been easier to see through. Is it in a position where you can at least pick it up to see how heavy it is? It may help to make yourself a dipstick, notch it so that you can tell approximately how much oil is in the tank, and subsequently how much is required for a refill. Otherwise, you can purchase a replacement tank that is not totally opaque.

The tank is in the bottom of the hull. In order to lift it you must undo the tie down cord wich is not practical for daily usage. It is hard to reattach because of the location. I tried the dipstick idea last year but there is a filter screen in the fill spout. Can the cap on the tank be removed routinely without damage? Thanks.
