Remote throttle for kicker

I have a Starcraft 170LE and a few weeks ago I installed a 6 HP Nissan 4 stroke kicker. I used the Cabelas stainless steel Motor Connecting Rod that links both motors together so that you can steer from the kicker from the helm. This arrangement works great and only cost about $50. As far as I can see, there's no need to go with the EZ Steer product unless you have a lot of money to burn.

My kicker has a normal tiller with a twist throttle. Does anyone know of a product or way to remote the throttle to the helm position, that doesn't cost a forture?

Chuck Gullage

Hey Chuck,
I had posted a previous reply to a similar question about the kicker motor in another thread, but did a "brief" search on Google about your question. I found the following product that might be useful to you. Check it out here:
http://www.troll-masterpro.com/

Hope this helps.

Saltymut

Re: Remote throttle for kicker

Chuck,

I assume you mean something other than what Cabela's offers, which I think may be that Troll-Master unit which uses a little electrical servo (looks like the ones used for radio controlled models) and a remote controller. Those are pretty pricey, and I haven't ever seen one used. I've often thought about trying to rig some sort of cable remote throttle control for my 15 hp Evinrude kicker, as trying to adjust it when you're out in 4-6' waves is no fun. Good luck!
