The throttle on my Merc has what I feel is improper operation. From Neutral to full throttle is a 90 degree arc of the throttle arm. The engine barely advances 200 RPM from the neutral position to about 70 degrees of the full 90 degree arc. From that 70 degree position to the 90 degree position, my engine advances to 5500 RPM. This operation makes it difficult to make minor adjustments in the throttle while under way. Passengers are jerked forward and aft with any small throttle adjustment. My dealer tells me that this is the correct operation. I don't believe him! Can anyone verify or refute this? And possibly provide the detailed procedure to adjust the throttle for it's proper operation?
