Re: Removal of spark plugs on AQ225 Bayliner
Howdy "Budt1".... I'm sorry no one has replied to your "plug dilemma" so far.
I use the following tools (of quality manufacturer)... and have never needed anything more to remove
plugs from a Bayliner AQ225 V8.
'Quality manufacturer' = Craftsman, Snap-On, SK, MAC, Wright, New Britain USA, Penn, Plomb, Owatonna (OTC) and others.....
tools that should neither break nor slip.
Tools are as follows:
1. A 3/8" drive six or twelve point, deep well socket.
2. A 3/8" drive 2" or 4" extension.
3. A 3/8" drive ratchet..... or longer handled 3/8" breaker bar.
Use the shortest 3/8" drive extension (2" or 4") that when connected to the deep well socket..... will allow the ratchet or breaker bar to just clear exhaust manifolds or other obstructions when connected to the end of the extension.
Use one hand to steady the complete tool setup so that it points directly in line with the plug to be removed.
Position the ratchet or breaker bar so that it may be forced downward counter clockwise.
Steady yourself, then use steady downward (counter clockwise) force on the ratchet or breaker bar with one hand while using the other to keep the entire tool as directly in line as possible with the plug being removed.
Be sure the area directly below your forcing hand is clear of whatever may skin your knuckles if the tool should slip.
I hope this helps, "Budt1", and good luck. :---)
