I have a newly aquired 84 Sea Ray V-197. It has back to back seating. I want to remove it and install pedestal or sport seating. Can I cut the glassed in boxes off the floor and then just bolt down new seats? Do I need to reinforce area for pedestals?

Thanks,
Kevin

I would strongly suggest the latter. If the SeaRay construction is at all similar to my boat, the 1/2" fiberglass covered plywood floor would not adequately support pedastal mounts.

I don't know your floor thickness, my "72 Winner had 12 gauge metal plates between the stringers under the floor where the seat pedastals were. What color are those back to back seats, I'd be willing to take them off your hands.
