1999 Bravo III - Looking to remove the bell housing and transom assembly. Do I really need them all? Anyone interested in renting or selling them? If you know of a way to do this without those tools I'd appreciate the help. Thanks.

Yea, your going to need that one.

U-joint bellows sleeve removal tool P/N 919818169 (can't find this one)
Pry the old one out with a screwdriver and install a new one. Besides a new one comes with the new bellows. And I know your won't be reusing an old bellows with all that work.

Sleeve Installation Tool (U-joint Bellows) 91-818162 (can't find)
I made one out of plywood. Made a disc the same size as the OD (or slightly smaller) of the ring with another plywood ring inside to keep the ring centered.
Then drilled a hole in it and used the alignment bar in the center of it to hold it, and push it.

Hinge Pin Tool (P/N 91-78310) (found on ebay for $16)

1/2" allen will work, unless it strips, then the outcome (parts and labor) will be higher than the tool.

PS: Your local Merc dealer can get any of those tools for you.

Sorry, it's at work, never did take any pictures of it. I actually made it last year and was going to order the real thing. But it worked and still works on every Bravo and Gen II bellows we replace.
Go to your local Mercruiser dealer and ask them to look at the installation tool. You will see what I mean.

I saw a PIC online. It's a circle with a rabbit cut around the outer edge. Should be easy enough to fabricate. I have the engine out. If I remove the transome assembly inside will the exterior transom assembly come off in one piece (bell housing, gimble).

If I undrstand your ??? right then yes it will. All you need to do unbolt the inside of the transom assy and a plate will come off on the inside, Then you will pull out the the transom assy from the out side of the boat as a compleate unit and you will have a big hole at the back of the boat if that is what you mean.:p;):D
