Remove Carpet then what?

Ok, done a lot of reading, I think I want to remove the carpet in my 2000 Bayliner 1850DX. So when I remove the carpet, what can I put down on the gray bumpy surface that is exposed.

I have seen boats that have a nice smooth white surface, some texture to provide traction when it's wet. Is this a DIY type thing I can do?

My overall goal is to seal the floor, prevent any water damage on the floor and no wood rot developing.

Thanks guys

the surface you are talking about is usually a factory liner, that is installed. but there are many products available to give you similar results.

if you are going to be painting you can use silica sand.. just tape off what you dont want to be textured. lay a coat of paint down sprinkle the sand on top of the wet paint and let dry.. when dry scuff the textured surface to break loose any sand that did not adhere and blow off.. then just lay another coat of paint and you're golden.... some people actually mix the sand with the paint... i found it easier to get a even distribution of sand sprinkling it on.. you can check my link below for results..good luck

I saw the anti-slip paint additive at my local Menards (Home Depot competitor).
Don't remember how much it cost, but I'm sure it was a lot more than sand...
