Remove middle seat

I have a 14 foot v- bottom narrow only 44" across the seat was wondering if I could remove the middle seat and add plastic tank? Should I leave part of the seat attached from side to side for support or can I just remove the whole thing? Plan on boxing it in and surrounding the tank with new foam. Thanks for any info.

thats fine but remember that the seat also acts as a rigid cross member and provides latteral support to the boat so make sure that the boat is stable without the seat
