I went and removed the plugs from both toons to see if any water was in them. This is a older pontoon. Now when you put them back in do you put sealer around the plug and also around the outside. If so where and what kind do you use.

I'd like to remove mine but they saeem to be made out of plastic. If I knew the size of the thread I'd get a couple of brass ones. It's an 07 Starcraft.

It only stands to reason that you should use a sealer or teflon tape unless it has an O-ring of some sort.

These are very likely tapered threads , which seal as they tighten. I have nothing on my plastic ones, that's the way they came from the factory. I would put one wrap of teflon tape around any other material. If I replace them I use brass also, with one wrap of teflon tape.

Most are 1/4" pipe thread. Mine have a small hole in the center of the plug to keep toon from building pressure or vacuum. I pulled my plugs out of my older toon to check for water occasionally.

I use pipe thread sealer paste which you can get at Lowes, Home Depot in the plumbing section it works great on plastic and metal pipe thread. IT has a brush built into the cap use plenty of it. Good luck!
