Do I have to pull drive to remove engine? I have room to move engine forward once it's unbolted. It's a 91 four winns 5.7 with omc cobra.Or can it just be unbolted at bellhousing so I don't have to mess with alignment issues.

Ayuh,... It don't work that way,.. Pull the drive, then the motor, it lifts straight up...
And, you still need to align anytime you move the motor...

Ok so the guy working on my boat says he has pulled the motor on many without touching the drive. He told me he already had mine out so I guess when they get it back together I just need to go ahead and check the alignment .I have read several post saying this is possible, just check alignment.Just makes me nervous because most post on here say to pull drive.

You can't check the alignment without pulling the drive. Not sure what the big deal is about pulling a drive, 6 nuts hold the drive on, remove the trim pin from the trim cylinders and pull the drive off. 10 minutes if you are slow. 6 or 7 bucks for a new gasket set to install. The drive should be pulled yearly so you can grease the splines on the coupler or replace the coupler if you don't.

yes,I understand how easy it is to pull the drive but the guy working on it didn't so I will check it before he puts the motor back in or when I get the boat back.Hopefully he calls before he puts motor back. Thanks for the insight.

Then he probably shouldn't have been working on your boat if he doesn't understand such simple concepts.
