Removing 70 hp Evinrude from boat

I have a 1974 vintage bass boat that I am about to restore. It has a 1974 Evinrude Triumph 70 hp engine that needs to be removed. The engine block has two lift rings bolted to the block that appear to be for either removing the engine block or perhaps for lifting the entire engine.
Can anyone tell me if the entire engine can be safely hoisted from the boat with these engine block rings?

Thanks, GeorgeN

Sure, use the lift rings. Thats what they are for and they are plenty strong enough to lift the whole motor. Your motor probably weighs around 125 to 150 pounds or so.

I have a 1974 115HP Johnson I just moved from one boat to another. Mine only had 1 lift ring but it worked perfect using a hoist with chain and hook to move it.

Thanks for the info. I will use the rings to hoist the motor from the boat. I just wasn't sure if they were meant to lift the entire engine vs just the engine block. Much apprecitation, thanks George, San Diego
