We are pulling an engine to rebuilding it. Cant seem to get the drive shaft from the end of the transmission. Any ideas on how to remove it? We have tried putting the nut back on and bumping it, using a prop puller, and chain pulling from the outside. Any suggestions would be great. First time doing a V-Drive.

Where the prop shaft exits the transmission, there is a big brass end on it that has the shaft coming out of it with the key way in it. That is what I'm trying to get lose to pull the shaft back a little to raise the motor. I just cant get the end with the key way pulled out.

it may be an interference fit. You may have to apply heat to get it to come off. There is also a screw or bolt that sets it to the shaft

Many of the couplers seize up do to corrosion and time. If all else fails get a 4-ich cut off wheel. Place the coupler with the brass key facing up. Cut through the coupler lengthwise with the brass key. You cut with the key because you don't want to cut into the shaft. Once cut through, replace the key and coupler.
