WTX,

Start with something mild like mineral spirits first. Let it sit on there for few seconds to lossen the glue. Then use a plastic scrapper to remove the bulk material. Then final clean with a rag dampened with mineral spirits. If mineral spirits doesn't work then use the same process with something stronger like Goo Gone. Just becareful which solvent you use because it may damage the surrounding finish. If you were going to repaint I would suggest starting off with acetone. But that would most likely remove the finish as well.

I did vinyl graphics for 6+ years. Zep chemicals Big Orange degreaser works great. Then denatured alcohol to clean up the big orange.

I like the Mineral spirits..

One trick in in the Cloth that you use..you dont want a fine Micro fiber cloth..you want something like a terry towel ( more surface area to remove/collect the glue ).

3m sells an "Adhesive remover" in a red qt spouted can..works well too.

Another trick is to warm up the cowl before you try your solvents..

Acetone is a no no..even with a repaint..you can lift the paint and not know it untill you start to prime/paint.

I've used a heat gun and mineral spirits several times, works well. The heat seems to soften the glue up a bit then the mineral spirits cleans it right up.
