Removing Airboxes

Well, I learned a lesson on removing airboxes.

This is on my '86 8hp kicker. Before pulling up for the day I like to run the kicker wide open to burn out any residual gunk and carbon. Anyway, it has been bogging down at full unless I put a little bit of choke on it. I figured clogged jets, and I've cleaned it a few times with no result.

About a month ago I decided to take the airbox off so I'd have better access to all the adjustments. Then, I just left it off. Well, this roughly coincides with the high speed problem.

So, today I put the airbox back on and it ran perfect.

Guess I won't leave it off again.

Re: Removing Airboxes

I honestly haven't been worrying too much about my kicker not going full out. Still, it's nice to have it back working correctly.

Stupid airbox.
