I just bought a complete 1998 5.0l alpha I gen II driveline from a deckboat. it has 3" riser extensions on it. the boat I will be putting it in doesn't need the extensions, and will not fit with them on. what else needs to change when I pull off the extensions??

Just remove nuts and washers, then slide all parts off studs. Then remove studs (item 19) from manifold and install new bolts (item 13). Appears you can install either 8 each 5.75 inch bolts, or 4 each 1.5 inch bolts and 4 each 5.75 bolts.

I understand how to physically remove the extensions. my question is after I pull them off, what other portions of the exhaust change? is there a different y pipe/riser/rubber hose?? I can't see being able to drop the riser 3" and still have everything line up.

The center rise manifold accepts both the 3 and 4 inch elbow/riser

The link below shows the standard elbow, one port and one starboard. There is also an elbow kit which is an extension when risers are used. So look at the elbows you have and see if there are extended or standard, both will connect to standard Y pipe

Ahhh! Perfect that is exactly what I was looking for and answers my questions! The elbows that came with my motor are the short style and look brand new never run. I'm guessing it had the long style and he used them on the new motor. This is perfect as the short ones will fit my motor after I remove the extension!
