Removing and installing pinion shaft needle bearing?

I hit a stump this weekend and striped the pinion gear and forward gears. My question is how to remove the pinion shaft bearing and install the new one? Can you drive the bearing out to the bottom of the gear case or does it have to be removed out the top? How do you install the new one without damaging it? Is there a shade tree way?

Book says special tool #433033. I have no idea what it consists of. Too new for me.

OMC Service Manual shows how to do this.
