The previouse owner of my unit, '72 Cobia Tornado, dicided that carpet on the "dash", would be nice, i don't fell the same so i pulled it up. My question is will normal glue removers eat into the gel coat or should i just scrape and sand? Thanks.

Re: removing carpet glue

I used regular carpet adhesive remover on the floor of my 1969 boat. Underneath was a regular fiberglass textured floor that originally from the factory had no carpet. The adhesive remover did not hurt the floor of my boat. I would try it, scrape with a semi-dull scraper and easy on the sanding.

Heat gun, goo b gone, scraper, Paint thinner.

I think any or a combination of the above will work. but you might not want to use thinner then the heat gun  :D

Mineral spirits took mine off and even put a nice shine on the gel-coat.

Dave
