removing drive shaft seal from lower unit

how do you remove the drive shaft seal where the drive shaft enters the lower unit?

i have a 1960 evinrude lark 40 hp.

Use a small slide hammer device with a hook on the end to grab the bottom portion of the seal, OR carefully pry it out with a large screwdriver or tool of your choosing.
