I am searching for the answer, it has to be here, but....

What needs to take place to remove the lower unit on my 1987 Force 50? The bolts came out like new, she seperated about 1/4 inch and now I want to be sure of what to do next.

Thanks

OK, here is the answer for people FROM MY EXPERIENCE. Put the engine in forward. Remove the 4 bolts holding the lower unit on. Seperate the unit 1/2 to 1" whatever it will give you. Reach in with needle nose plyers and remove the very small cotter pin in the shift rod on the front of the unit. Remove the pin holding the shift rod in place. She should slide right out.

Looks like you have everything undone. The driveshaft upper splines may be frozen to the powerhead splines through corrosion. You can certainly try to tap it down a bit to see if it will free itself. Use a 2x2 piece of wood or whatever you have and see if it will budge.
