i have taken out the screw with the allen key head.
i have even taken the box apart but i cannot figure out how to seperate this lever from the control box.

Just a thought but check for a snap ring, alot of times they get lost in the crud and you miss them.

As I said just a though but I have run into that on other things.

Re: removing forward/reverse lever

I just toook my OMC remote assy apart yesterday using the Seloc manual.

The instructions for mine were to loosen the allen head screw 3 turns but leave it in. Then take a soft hammer and a punch and tap (pound) on the top of the allen head screw until the handle came out of the shaft. I had to spray a bunch of wd40 and let it sit but it finally came loose from the shaft. Then I removed the allen head screw all the way and it slid right out.

Try that

Not sure about the 2003, but on about a bajillion other years, that is the procedure. The handle is on a tapered shaft (like a flywheel except it is also splined in addition to the taper)
