This is on my 1990 Mercruiser 3.0...
I need to remove my valve cover, and my fuel line from the pump to the carb runs right over the top. Removing the nut attaching the line to the pump was easy enough, but I can't budge the line from the receptacle on the pump. On the carb end I believe the big outside one on the cab side holds still, the smaller one on the fuel line screws in to it. My problem is that I can't budge the darn thing. The pump end has a nut removed but won't come loose, on the carb end I can't budge the nut. I've put an extension on my wrench and it is just starting to round out the nut. Am I turning the wrong one?
Is there any trick here, or did someone just use some ridiculous loctite on these things, or way over-tighten them? I know the manual calls for a bit of loctite 592., but this is crazy.
If worst comes to worse I might just have to cut it off and make a new one. I know they sell fuel lines at the auto stores around here, but the books says they need to be USCG approved (Type A), and I don't know if they are.
Thanks for the help.
