I have a leaking trim cylinder and I am having trouble removing the hydaulic lines. Tried using flare wrench and starting to round nuts, so I stopped. Will heating the trim cylinder hurt anything? I am going to atttempt to rebuild it, so I do not want to melt anything inside. I have soaked the flare nut in penatrating oil for 2 days and it does not seem to be helping.

Try doing this, Don't pull on the wrench, Tap on the wrench, Kind of like how an impact screwdriver would work.

Good luck with it.:)

Try a metric flare wrench.IT might fit on what you have left.
Heat will probably do damage if you get it that hot to remove the fitting.
PB Blaster.Thy that and let it set for a couple of days,J

If you get absolutely stuck on this, cut the metal tubing and use a socket to remove fitting. You will then need to get the hose repaired, or put on a new one if its old.

Is your flare wrench 6 point or 12?
If 12, get a 6, much better contact.

Thanks for all the suggestions, will give it a try as soon as I pick up the penatrating oil and 11 mm flare wrench on the way home. Will let you know if it works.....

Take a regular wrench and cut a slot in it so the tube can fit through. Use a vise grip to hold the wrench together so it doesn't flex.

I had the same problem and ended up opening up the cylinder while it was still attached to the transom shield. worked out fine for me. I have pictures if you are interested.

Wanted to say thank you to all who replied. I was able to get one flare nut off using a combination of all suggestions. I cut a 12 point wrench enough to get around the tube and used vise grips to keep it from spreading. I tapped it with hammer, after soaking with PB Blaster. Only 5 more to go. I have two leaking on different drives, so I figure I will put the two goods ones on one drive and rebuild the two bad ones or worst case buy two new ones.

I was able to get another one off, but rounded it pretty bad. I had to grind the sides down flat and used a 3/8 box wrench to get it off. I did try go back and forth to and from tight to lose which helped break the sealant. Two more to go, which will allow me to put the two remaining good cylinders on one side and the two rebuilt(hopefully) on the other outdrive.

Does anyone know the PSI created by the trim cylinder pump. I was thinking of testing the cylinder with air after the rebuild.
