I have removed the 4 bolts connecting the foot. I have also disconnected the shift linkage by removing the bottom screw and separating the 2 shafts. I cannot get the lower unit to pull apart. What am I missing here. The model is CD-24.

The drive shaft has a pin near the top that has to pass through a slot, support the weight of the LU and rotate the flywheel slowly clockwise, the pin will line up with the slot and the LU will drop.

Thanks, the lower unit came right off with ease...much to my surprise the impeller looks new. I put it all back together and itis pumping like a champ. ???? Maybe the intake screen was clogged or there was an air lock at the angle it was in the barrel.

If you don't know the age/history of that impeller you should change it out for a new one regardless.

I agree for 15 dollars while you have it apart it pays to go ahead and replace it. Cheap insurance.
