removing lower unit from kiekhaefer merc 50 hp.

[oops!]

we are ripping the lower off an old merc.

all the bolts are undone and we are still having a problerm....is there some kind of retaining clip at the top of the shaft?

we can seperate the lower about 1/4 inch...but then it seems to hang up...

any opinions?
