I already have the bearing housing out and I see the seals that I need to replace but I can not get them out I tried gently prying on them but I don't want to break anything. I know that there is a tool to do this but I dont have it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the seals and how to put the new ones back in properly? If I cant do it myself I know a guy that does work out of his garage and he has the right tools but im just trying to save a dime. Thanks in advance for your help

Let's see, I'm a mind reader and your motor is a '71 Johnson 4 hp, right?

Right now you have a leak that seals will fix. Many times, without the proper tool's, you can create a leak nothing will fix. A lot depend's on how corroded they are.

Go to Autozone and buy the tool. It is less than 20.00 and will save you hours of time. Don't ask me how I know. I took well over two hours to remove one seal that took less than 5 when I bought the right tool. My time is worth more than 20.00 for two hours.
