 When I clear-coated my blue metal flake boat I tried to remove the remote control from the side of the boat so I could sand and coat that area. Never did get it off. Now I'm worried about the two big screws on the side that I loosened but do not come out. There must be nuts on the inside that are turning. Can anybody advise me how this darn thing comes off? I can't see how I can get my hand into the other side of the bulkhead in the event the nuts are really on the other side and not in the inside of the remote. It's on a 1990 Procraft Fish & Ski.
The remote is from around 1990 and it has tilt, tension and safety cutoff switch.
Thanks in advance,

Re: Removing OMC Remote Control

The nuts are on the outside of the control box! You may have to dismantle some pieces of the Boat to get to it. I did!! Don't know why they do that, as they know that in the future you are at the very least going to have to replace a Cable or two! Not sure of you set-up, so I really can't tell you how to get them loose. Maybe you could post a Pic! That would help. Ormaybe someone wil have the same Model and can assist you further! Good Luck,
