Removing Paint From Gel Coat??

Hello, I was wondering if anyone can tell me The best way or how to remove paint off the Gelcoat of a boat?? And/or restore it back to white?? thanks

Is this bottom paint (anti-fouling paint) or marine top-side paint?

well the guy who owned it put ugly looking flames on it that look like a tiawana Taxicab along the side and top of the (22ft Wellcraft Scarab) Boat.And i would really like to know if there is a way to get that crap off??

Have you tried paint stripper? Interlux sells some intended for boats. Do a search for "paint stripper" and I think you will find some brands that folks have had success with. <br /><br />One thing to keep in mind is that the gelcoat usually needs to be ruffed up a bit before paint is applied. Also the gelcoat exposed to the sun may look a little different than the gelcoat under the paint once the paint is removed.

try oven cleaner,I used it on my semi that had painted names and pictures on it and they came off with no damage to the original paint.<br />ken
